DIgSILENT PowerFactory is a powerful power system analysis software that offers a wide range of innovative calculation and simulation functions. Extensive models of modern power system components and equipment, together with flexible interface options, enable efficient analysis of complex energy systems.
In addition to the software, DIgSILENT provides a comprehensive range of maintenance and support services. For perpetual software licences, annual maintenance contracts are available, ensuring continuous access to professional support services, up-to-date documentation, and regular software updates. This keeps your PowerFactory installation up to date and allows you to benefit from ongoing developments and new features.
Perpetual licences include 12 months of maintenance and support from the date of purchase. This period can subsequently be extended through annually offered maintenance contracts. For subscription and time-limited software licences, the maintenance period corresponds to the licence duration; maintenance and support services are included in the licence fee.
DIgSILENT releases a new major version of PowerFactory every year, supplemented by regular service packs. During the maintenance period, users have access to all software updates via DIgSILENT’s download area.
Each release introduces new and enhanced functions and electrical models, updates to align with national and international standards, improves usability and performance, and provides updated documentation and learning resources, including tutorials and application examples with video content.
Customers holding perpetual licences may upgrade their licences for a fee, provided they have an active maintenance contract. Options include changing the software edition, increasing the maximum number of nodes, purchasing additional functions, and increasing the number of users.
Our web-based customer portal is available at all times as a central point of contact for technical support. Support tickets allow users to attach PowerFactory files (*.pfd or *.pfdx) directly, enabling efficient and effective handling of enquires.
On working days, we aim to respond to support requests within 24 hours. All tickets are acknowledged upon receipt, and users will be contacted if additional information is required. Please note that resolution within this timeframe cannot always be guaranteed.
DIgSILENT offers comprehensive training courses in both online and in-person formats, delivered at DIgSILENT offices or directly at customer sites. In addition, a range of flexible Self E-Learning Courses is available via our webshop.
User group meetings are organised regularly to share the latest developments and to provide a valuable platform for users to exchange knowledge and experience.
During the maintenance period, users benefit from exclusive discounts on registration fees.
Our telephone hotlines are available for technical support from Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 16:00 CET/CEST. Users receive prompt and professional assistance, particularly for urgent enquiries.
Our newsletter proactively informs users about important topics, including early notifications of planned maintenance activities and potential service interruptions (e.g. for Cloud-Based Softkeys or the customer portal), current information on security vulnerabilities with recommended actions, and the latest news about software releases.

- PF4T: PowerFactory for thesis: free PowerFactory licences can be made available to students for implementing a non-sponsored Bachelor/Master/PhD thesis
